Me and the Office have a Love/Hate relationship going on

Alright, I just have to get a couple of things off my chest. I used to hate The Office. I thought it was a cheap knockoff of a British show that just got its fanbase from people saying, “Hey, it’s like work in my office, but slightly more exagerated.” But dammit, I watched the season 4 finale and the season 5 premiere and I’ve gotta say that I was wrong; the Office is a pretty entertaining show. And I was totally wrong about the fanbase thing. I’m not even employed by ANY office and I’m enjoying this show. (For any prospective employers reading this, I am seeking employment.)

But there are some things that I reall
y like about this show, and some things I still really don’t. So here’s a quick list.
The Good:
- Steve Carrell - He’s the glue that makes this show work. He plays the part of the idiotic middle-manager so well that I wonder if he has trouble keeping his role seperate from his real life.
- Half of the Supporting Cast - after the Jim/Pam/Warehouse Guy story arc, each of the supporting cast members are getting more face time and they’re pretty good.
- You Get Invested - They aren’t just standalone stories about goings-on in the office. There are on-going storylines and it’s easy to get invested.
- Web Exclusives - They generate so much web-only content. Weekly blogs, web videos, behind the scenes videos. It’s nuts.

The Bad:
- Rainn Wilson - I just think he tries too hard, and I don’t think he’s a good comedic actor. Dwight’s character is completely necessary, but the actor playing him, in my opinion, sucks.
- The Other Half of the Supporting Cast - There are some supporting characters that never really make me laugh, and some are just really one-dimensional.
- Solemn Vow - After watching the first season of the Office, I took a personal vow to stop watching and took on a personal crusade to direct others to stop. Dammit.
Alright, one storyline that’s getting me into the story is the fact that Michael’s actually got a chance with the new HR woman. They’re both huge dweebs and they’re both kinda diggin’ each other. All he’s gotta do now is not blow it. Just look at them work as a dweeb team (see below).
